~Resizing an LVM logical volume in Red Hat 5

***Make Sure that you have the latest backup for the logical volume with you (Just in case...)***

:~]#umount /LVOL

#####(If device is busy, use #lsof /LVOL to find out what process/file is open for that volume; Best option is to do this from single user mode or a rescue CD, especially for / volume )

:~]#e2fsck -f /dev/VOLGRP/LVOL

:~]#resize2fs -p /dev/VOLGRP/LVOL  XXG

######(XXG=Desired SPACE: Shouldn't be lesser than currently used space OR larger than total logical volume size)

:~]#lvreduce --size XXG /dev/VOLGRP/LVOL

:~]#resize2fs /dev/VOLGRP/LVOL

:~]#e2fsck /dev/VOLGRP/LVOL

:~]#mount /dev/VOLGRP/LVOL

:~]#df -h
